ADOBE PHOTOSHOP PLUG-IN TO SUPPORT "PIX" FILES Rob Neve, Enigma Studios Here's the Photoshop plug-in. It's a Windows-only version and requires Photoshop 3.0.5 (or higher). To install, copy the file into the "photoshp\plugins" directory and make sure it's named "aliaspix.8bi" (only the ".8bi" extension is important). When Photoshop is started, it will automatically recognize and load the plug-in. The format and .PIX extension will appear in the OPEN and SAVE dialogs, and function just as any of the many other single-layer formats. There is also a pop-up in the HELP->ABOUT that copyrights the plug-in using my software company, Enigma Studios. To be clear, it is freeware and has no restrictions whatsoever. I've also included an updated spec. Alias has a grayscale variant of the PIX file that is virtually identical in format to the RGB, but is differentiated in the Alias documentation (it's called a "matte" file). Since Alias imposes no naming convention on these files, we've chosen to simplify the matter and call them both PIX files. The plug-in reads and writes both, of course.
